Frequently Asked Questions about the IELTS Test


How can I apply for the test?
You can apply online here. You can also apply by coming into our head office.
What documents do I need to submit?
A colour scan of your passport information page or Permanent Resident card. This can be uploaded during the online registration.
Where should I send my identification documents?
You have the option to upload a scan of your identity document when you register online, or you can email it to after you have completed the online registration.
Where can I find the IELTS Application Summary email?
The email will be sent to the address you provided when you registered online. If you registered online, please check your email inbox and junk/spam folders. The email will have “IELTS Application Summary” in the subject line.
Can I pay over the phone?
We do not accept payment or registration over the phone, but you can with credit card, or in person at our head office with cash, credit, or debit card.

Test day

Is it possible to take all of the modules on the same day?
Yes. The listening, reading and writing modules take place in the morning, and the speaking module takes place in the afternoon.
Can I take the test online?
No. The test is paper-based and must be written in person at one of our test centre locations.
What time should I arrive at the test centre?
You must arrive at the test centre location between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.
What happens if I am sick on the day of the test?
Please complete the 'Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form' and submit with supporting documentation (e.g. Doctor's note) and send to within 5 business days after the test date. Applications and supporting documentations received later than 5 business days after the test date will not be considered.
What should I bring with me?
You must bring your ID document (passport or Permanent Resident card, whichever you used during the registration process).


When will I receive my test results?
Your results will be available 13 days after the test. You can come to pick up your results at our head office on the Friday that is 13 days after the test. We are open from Monday to Thursday 09:00 AM - 05:00 PM and Friday 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM. If you do not pick up your results on that day, we will mail your Test Report Form to the address you provided when you registered for the test.
When can I check my results?
You can check your results online here 13 days after the test. Please note that we are not responsible for any errors or delays relating to web release.
How long will the online preview be available?
The system will display results for up to 40 days after the test date
Is it possible to get my score re-checked?
Yes. You must send a completed Enquiry on Results Form to our head office. You can do this via post, or deliver the document in person. Please note, the Enquiry on Results takes approximately 8-10 weeks to process.
