IELTS & Immigration to Canada
One of the official tests recognized by the Canadian government, IELTS is widely accepted by universities and colleges across Canada and by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
There are 3 immigration categories for Canada.
- Permanent Residence
- Work Permits
- Study Permits
If you’re thinking of applying for your PR via Express Entry, which is a faster way for skilled immigrants to obtain their residency, or through other Federal or Provincial streams, such as the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) – IELTS is the right test for you.
A higher IELTS score while submitting your file for Express Entry can make all the difference. It amounts to higher points on your application, which will result in being invited to apply sooner. Prepare well for your IELTS test to elevate your chances of being invited. Furthermore, a higher IELTS score will significantly help you integrate into Canadian society and enable employment and educational opportunities.
Before submitting your file for Permanent Residency, ensure you have a valid IELTS score. IELTS scores are valid for two years from the date of the issuance of the results. The reason for such a rule is to ensure that people do not lose their English-language proficiency over time. If you are thinking of applying for your PR soon and your IELTS score expires within the next 6 months, it is probably best to re-sit the test.
